Shadowscapes Tarot – King of Wands

The first thing to notice about this card is the strong warm light coming out from the back of the male character seen in the center of the card.

Remember that the wands represent the hot summer. The colors on this card really point to this aspect.

Lions surround him. There are 2 lions in the air representing his inner power. His wand is actually a staff with a lion head at the top.

He also has a sphinx at his feet which seems to offer support or protection. This lion appears to be made of stone, as opposed to the ones in the air.

This king has his feet well on the ground. His legs are apart, for a more stable stance.

His mind is very active, he’s quick in thinking, and he might think well out of the box. His opinions are strong. He could make you think like him, if he really tries. His head is full of bold ideas, represented by the orange ball.

Another orange (energy?) ball already flew out and the highest lion is jumping towards it, as if he would like to eat it. We know these lions are males because all of them have manes.

He has impressive stag horns – an indication he is out of this world. He is quite majestic, just like a stag.

These elements really point to a person who takes command and likes to lead others.

I can’t stop seeing similarities in imagery with the knight of wands card: strong light, strong men, lions, long staffs, and horns.

It seems as if the knight finally matured into a king, but still keeps a wild side – since lions are wild animals. Whatever adventures the knight was searching for, helped him become stronger than he anticipated: he seems to be able to control the nature with his very presence.

That’s also suggested bu the bright light coming out of his back and seen behind the lion head on his staff.

This is suggested by the tattoos on his side and arm, and also by the stag horns.

Other horned characters in this deck are:

There is also a Fibonacci symbol on the card. It can be seen on the sphynx, as its tail is curved like that. It also has some longer hairs that curl in the same pattern.

This king is rather young looking. A bit too young. Perhaps he had an early start in life with hardships that made him mature faster than what’s considered normal.

This also made him very strong and fierce. He also has very strong allies that will back him up if needed.

The belt around his trousers is red. Could this be the red ribbon we see in many other cards? Could seem that way, in any case, unlike in most other cards, it doesn’t hang, there’s nothing dangling from it. Perhaps it points to the fact that the character in the image fulfilled his destiny and he’s where he is supposed to be.

Shadowscapes Tarot – Eight of Pentacles

The main color of the card is green, pointing to money and abundance.

On this card, we see a big black and red spider building his web. He is close to what appears to be its center. He used a near-by tree branch as the basis for his web, as well as a rather thin whimsical grass-blade for a second side.

We don’t see the 3rd point of support, which makes me think this spider is not as wise as we would assume. His web also has some holes and doesn’t seem ‘perfect’. Any wind blowing can tear it apart, which probably happened already.

If you look closely at the art on the card you can see 2 human-like figures and 3 faces in the tree branch. How scary is that? Maybe the web is more effective than what we first thought?

It could also point to the basis all of have: our parents, since there are 2 figures in the tree. And the tree is the most solid point holding the spider web.

The couple seen there also makes me think of a person’s parents, being pretty happy with their child, and knowing it will be hard for the child to make it out there, but they know the kid will make it.

The spider works hard to make the web, and even though it’s not perfect, he does manage to build it by himself.

The whimsical grass blade that the spider used as one of the supports for his web can point to the random people entering our lives – siblings, classmates, partners, colleagues, other people we meet.

The 3rd supporting base for the web is not seen. This points to the twists and turns in life, luck or its lack, and generally situations that we cannot control.

Interestingly enough, there are 3 main strings attached to this unseen support. The leaf has the most strings and then the tree.

However, when the wind blows, the leaf can easily break about half of the web. Its center seems closer to the tree which will still hold the remaining web.

Since Stephanie chose a spider and its web for this card, I think it’s also a warning, depending on the situation in the querrent’s life. Be wary of those who always seem to have a plan ready. Try to be careful not to fall into traps carefully designed, that we don’t see them? [like a fly]

Think here of a bad loan [like the payday loan], or of the secret charges of a hotel, since the pentacles represent money. Other wary situations are with jobs that seem interesting, promise good pay, but when you go to the interview, you learn a completely different story. Or the “interview” is a waste of time because the interviewer doesn’t say much despite talking for hours.

Or is it that when we think we have the secret plan to success [of any kind] we should work at it in secret, in ways that would make people wonder ‘what is he up to’? – I’m not sure what I mean here, but something close to being an entrepreneur in a niche nobody thought of before or is yet to be explored in your area.

Remember that this card is related to the Strength from the major arcana. It means we need some rules when trying to achieve something higher, and at times we need to be creative in making the most out of the rules, as they can limit us.

Shadowscapes Tarot – Ten of Pentacles

On this card we see a young woman riding a dragon. She holds a gigantic peach and the dragon has a pentacle-coin dandling from one of his claws. There is also a castle in the far distance.

The castle can barely be made out, and things could still go sideways if one is not careful enough. The woman, however, seems pretty careful: she looks towards the castle -is that her goal? and she holds onto the dragon.

Let’s not forget that the word “dragon” is used as a code-name for the Devil, at times. The relation to the Devil card is made through the dangling coin, and we all know that “money is the eye of the devil.”

Therefore, we already know already that:

  • the pentacle suit is related to money, wealth, material needs, practicality, and even bankers,
  • 10s are related to something that is complete.

With this in mind, we should probably be careful about how we act once we reach the wealth we hope for. I’ll go a bit more in depth later on.

The general color of the card is a vibrant green with hints of golden – making me think of money. There is only one corner that is purple.. Is that a sign of royalty? This isn’t far fetched given the castle.

The overall message of this card is one can enjoy affluence and financial security, good fortune, and luxury.

The image makes me think that financial security is not necessarily or always self-earned, or at least not entirely. It comes from a strong supporter who might have something to gain when helping out, as well. this particular image makes me think of a ‘sugaring’ relationship. [please do your own research on this subject if you’re not familiar with it.]

The dragon hoarded a fortune and is maybe too old, or tired to enjoy it all by himself. Sharing it with the young woman he can be sure it will be put to good use – the fruit she carries has a pit as well, that can grow into a tree.

But she needs some help, even financial help to make this happen. The dragon might get enough just from seeing the woman using the resources she receives for something good.

Her belly seems rounded, and this is a sign of pregnancy. She might be full of ideas that need proper care and resources to grow and materialize. Also, a pregnancy hints towards a new life or that a life(style) change is about to happen -after all, parenthood does change the way the parent(s) live(d/s).

So, perhaps, if we reach a level of wealth that enables us to somehow be of help, we should do that. This is somehow hinted at with the trees beneath them, as they all seem fruitless, whereas she has a peach that she can use to grow a peach tree.

The peach is a symbol of youth and longevity, and in East Asia, it is seen as a lucky symbol. Read more about it over here.

It also seems like to me they’re having one-another’s back. There’s trust between them. Partnership – mostly in a business-like environment.

Online shopping haul

Not long ago I promised I would show you guys the stuff I bought online, from a Chinese website called wish.com.

DISCLAIMER: this is not a sponsored post, I bought everything with my own money, and the opinions are my own!

Online shopping is good, as long as you don’t buy clothes, shoes, or expensive electronics. You must pay attention to what others have to say about the seller too, to see if you can trust  – but even then, you can get cheated.

This site wish is easy to use, you can sign up using your gmail account or even your facebook account. I paid with paypal, but I think credit/debit cards are also accepted.

This is what i ordered – a tote, 3 watches (!),  a deck of regular playing cards, and a tarot deck. I also ordered a bra for my friend – it fits her, but i will not show the actual product, and a whetstone to sharpen knives – it never arrived 😦

This is the Shadowscapes Tarot deck, translated into simplified Chinese, i believe. The English card names are at the top of the cards. There is one typing error on one of the cards “nice of cups” instead of “nine of cups, ” which i find quite funny, especially since this is a good card to get in a reading. The typo is barely noticeable, so it doesn’t bother me.

There are 2 extra blank cards included – I guess I can use them in case I lose one. As you can see the cards are quite long, so normal hand shuffling is a bit difficult. Maybe my palms are too short?

My other card deck is a playing one. But the images are with Vampire Knight, as you can see. Vampire Knight is a manga [Japanese comics] by Hino Matsuri. The cards are quite small compared to the tarot. Shuffling them is so easy!

I must admit, when i got them, i thought they’re bigger – before opening them up. I was quite impressed that they were sealed in plastic – the tarot wasn’t. Once i took them in my hand, i thought they’re really cute because of how small they appeared.

I didn’t use them, but I assume in dim light, it will be difficult to tell which card is which, so probably if you ever get your hands on a similar deck, play your games in stronger light.

So these are the watches I got. Why 3? well, i have a small obsession for watches. I have 4 of them in total. One – the first I ever got, is a Michael Kors. [I can’t really remember where it is] I’m not wearing it because it needs a battery and it had a small accident, and lost a decorative plate. I’m pissed about it – I still have it, but I have trouble putting it back with glue it doesn’t stay.

These watches didn’t arrive all at once, though the green ones have been ordered at the same time. The lighter green one was supposed to be more blueish. but the green one looks amazing! The first one to arrive was the one with a black bracelet. It is a mechanical one – the reason I got it. The other 2 cost me $1 each, and $1 shipping for each. I really liked the design, even though they require a battery.

The seller was nice enough to send them with a battery in AND with the hour set for Romania! how cool is that?

The tote is not as big as I thought it would be. I can fit a 15″ laptop in it, if i put it with the narrow side in. And it doesn’t go in all the way – but I rarely take my laptop with me, so that’s fine. It seems well done, though the sewing could have been more straight – in places where it is noticeable.

I like that it has a small inner pocket. The front is purple, and the other side is gray, like the handles and the bottom. The handles are long enough to allow you to wear the bag on the shoulder.

SHIPPING

The mechanical watch was the first to arrive, after some 3 weeks.  I thought i will never get to see my tarot deck nor my playing cards – they arrived quite late. The bag also arrived quite fast, but i forgot how fast. I also forgot how fast the other items came, but the 2 green watches arrived 1 week apart – shipped separately, though the seller was the same.

Speaking of sellers, there are many sellers on wish, just like on ebay or etsy. The prices can change from one day to the other, but they’re generally low. If you know me, you’ll know these items were cheap – since I hate spending money on expensive stuff.

site pictures VS real item pictures

There are slight color differences between the real life items and the image you see provided by the seller. The light green watch was the biggest offender, but since i like green, I’m not complaining. My light, though natural, wasn’t the best to take pictures. The tarot deck is less intense, much more pastel. As for the mechanical watch – just like with the others, several colors were available, that’s why mine is not golden.

Sadly, if you have a problem with your item, the customer support is from wish, and it is not the seller. you might also have the “luck” of talking to someone who doesn’t speak English well. You have 30 days for returns or refunds. This means i lost whatever I paid for my whetstone.

This is all for now. See you again next week!
